Call of Duty: Black Ops Annihilation Map Pack

While first-person shooter fans wait for the Fall/Winter releases of Modern Warfare 3, Gears of War 3, and other blockbuster titles, Call of Duty: Black Ops continues to draw in a crowd with their latest map pack: Annihilation. Featuring a wide variety of locations, the Annihilation map pack is a nice addition to the Call of Duty: Black Ops multiplayer experience.

The four multiplayer maps start with “Hangar 18”, which is set in a military air base installation. The large stealth jet in the center of the map sets the stage for a map useful for team deathmatch game types. Continuing with more standard map types is the “Silo” map, which features a variety of levels to fight your way through while playing deathmatch or objective-based game types. Both feature some nice graphical touches inside buildings and provide unique vantage points, making them a welcome addition to the Annihilation map pack.

The more unique maps in the map pack start with “Drive-In”, which pits players in a smaller but fun arena. The run-down buildings and dilapidated outdoor theatre provide a unique map unlike others offered in an of the previous map packs. “Drive-In” works well for deathmatch and objective games, is it allows for satisfying close-quartered combat and some solid sniping locations.

One of the most unique maps offered for Call of Duty: Black Ops is “Hazard,” which features one hole of an upscale cliff-side golf course. The unique location forces players through three narrow alleys that define the course. Great for sniping, this map can sometimes be frustrating if the main fairway is constantly off limits from someone with good accuracy from long range.

Finishing the map pack is the newest zombie level, “Shangri-La”. Located in a beautiful and lush tropical environment, this map stands out amongst the other zombie maps. Finally starting to hit their stride, this map offers some great caverns to lose yourself in, zombies that players have never seen before, and an interactive map that lets new players explore and seasoned players quickly navigate the dangerous terrain.

Once again, Call of Duty: Black Ops delivers another solid map pack featuring some unique locations that add to both the multiplayer and zombies experience with Annihilation. The Annihilation map pack is currently available for download via the Xbox Live Marketplace for 1200 Microsoft Points.
