Elder Scrolls Oblivion: 5th Anniversary Edition hits stores on July 12. This special bundle comes with the original game, Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles downloadable content. It also includes a special map and a $10 coupon to Elder Scrolls Skyrim. The bundle comes in a collectable steelbook case, all for just $30.
Skyrim, like Oblivion, is an open world fantasy RPG that lets players freely explore an expansive and beautiful realm. The new and improved graphics system makes this the most beautiful Elder Scrolls world to date.
The game’s story begins with the assassination of the high king in Skyrim. As the empire falls apart, a new threat emerges: the dragons—once banished—now return to destroy Tamriel. The only hope rests on the shoulders of the foreseen hero, the Dragonborn. Legends tell of the mighty hero destined to rise and defeat the dragons.
The new storytelling engine, “Radiant Story,” creates a unique experience for the player. Players actions will have serious consequences. For example, Bruce Nesmith, Lead Designer of Skyrim said dropping a weapon may cause non-playable characters to fight over it. Slaying an enemy causes a relative or friend to seek vengeance upon the player and try to kill him or her. These are just a few examples of the narrative intricacies players can expect to see.
One of the most exciting features the dragons offer is the ability to harness their power. Upon defeating the dragons, the player will assume control of their magic powers. The toughest dragons will provide players with the most powerful spells.
Pre-ordering Skyrim will grant players a special map made of sturdy cloth material. Those who choose not to pre-order will receive a standard paper map with the game. It releases on November 11, 2011 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
