Saturday Night Live Ratings Up Slightly, NBC’s Grimm Also Shows Improved Numbers

Things are looking slightly up for Saturday Night Lives ratings, and the sketch comedy series isnt the only NBC show that saw an increase in viewers this weekend. NBCs freshman series Grimm was also up.

Last nights Saturday Night Live featured Muppets star Jason Segel as host and Florence + the Machine as the musical guest. As some of us hoped, the Muppets made an appearance in the episode, showing up in the opening monologue and again later for another sketch. Kermit was also featured on Weekend Update to weigh in on the issue of pizza as a vegetable. (Really?!). According to Deadline, SNL was up a tenth in both the metered-market households (4.6/11) and Local People Meters (2.8/12 in adults 18-49) from last week when Emma Stone hosted. The episode matched the seasons current high (October 12th when Charlie Day hosted).

Below is one of the funnier sketches, especially if you like celebrity impersonations. You can watch the other highlights here.

Meanwhile, Grimm bounced back slightly on Friday night after two weeks of ratings declines, according to Deadline’s report of Friday night’s ratings. The supernatural-procedural posted 1.6/5 among viewers 18-49, which is up a tenth from last Fridays fast-nationals (which was adjusted up to 1.6). Deadline speculates that Grimm is well positioned to adjust up against this week to a 1.7. Grimm tied with CSI: NY as the second highest-rated show of Friday night. Both series fell behind CBS beloved cop drama Blue Bloods, which dominated with 12.2 million viewers for the night.

Grimms slight increase could be good news. The series has received an additional script order by NBC but there has been no official word on whether the show will receive a full season order. As someone whos been enjoying the series and its monster-of-the-week format, Im crossing my fingers that this weeks slight nudge up in the numbers wont be the last time the ratings improve for the show.
